Gen. McChrystal Is No MacArthur

A half century ago President Harry Truman tamed a rebellious -- and hugely popular -- Gen. Douglas MacArthur, who wanted to dramatically expand the war in Korea by attacking China.
President Obama faces a similar challenge today from his commander in Afghanistan, Gen। Stanley McChrystal, who wants to send tens of thousands more American troops to his war.

Democrats Lack Strong Voice on Security

He was supposed to quell a lingering Democratic soap opera over who would head the House Intelligence Committee in the 110th Congress. Instead, Texan Silvestre Reyes has added a subplot of his own. He spent much of last week as late-night talk show fodder, thanks to his badly flubbed answers to some simple questions about Islam.

ABC's 'Path to 9/11' Docudrama Roils Democrats and Liberal Bloggers

Controversy erupted Tuesday over an upcoming ABC television docudrama commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, with its producers and writers defending themselves against a swelling chorus of complaints from Clinton administration officials who say the film fabricates a key incident showing them letting Osama bin Laden slip out of their grasp.
